This scholarship will provide the winning candidate with a twelve month, instructor-led professional sales training program that meets once a week on Thursday for 1.5 hours.  The objective of the program is to teach the candidate what professional selling is, and how to sell in a manner that is no pressure and conversational. You will learn the Sandler Selling Process, a proven selling method used by sales professionals throughout the world. You will work on the three areas necessary for success - your attitude/confidence, your goals and behaviors, and the techniques and tactics.

Who Is Eligible?

The scholarship is specifically aimed at women located in the Capital Region who are either in a sales role today, or who are interested in making a career in professional sales. Professional sales means a position in which you are selling a product or service where the buyer is looking for you to be an expert in your offerings, and to take a consultative approach to the role. It typically is not a retail sales role, but a role in technology, service, professional, and manufacturing type environments.

While actual sales experience is not a requirement, what is a requirement is personal ambition and drive to make a career in sales. Personal commitment to step out of your comfort zone and learn new ways of thinking and the courage to execute are needed. Having a desire to improve yourself and a vision of what success looks like are important.

Application Process

As part of your application, you will need two people to nominate you in writing for this training scholarship, and the nominations must be submitted with your application. They may be from your network of personal contacts, and/or employment. If you are currently working, your employer must agree in writing to give you the time to participate in the program if you are selected. They are asked to comment on your character, fortitude, and why you would be a great candidate for this program. Applications must be received by February 29, 2024.

Interview selections will be made by March 15. After the interviews, the winner will be announced on April 1. The program begins on May 2 at 3:00-4:30 pm at Sandler Training, 13 Columbia Circle, Albany, NY 12203 (also offered remotely via Zoom).
