Sales Without the Sleaze: Can We Talk About This Already?

|

Selling with integrity means showing up with purpose, not pressure.

Not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because it’s the only approach that truly works.

I’ve spent my career in people-facing roles. It hasn’t always been easy, but my genuine curiosity and interest in what others say have consistently boosted my results — and made me someone people remember.

I’ll never forget a video call with a client I was supporting. At the end of our conversation, I mentioned that I was responsible for helping 750 others besides them. They looked at me, wide-eyed, and said:

“I thought I was the only one. You somehow make me feel like I’m the only person in the whole world.”

That moment reminded me that integrity and presence create connection. And connection builds trust.

Let’s be honest — sales often get a bad rap.

With so many pressure-heavy tactics out there, many professionals distance themselves from selling altogether.

And yet, if you lead, coach, consult, or create, you’re already doing it.

So instead of asking, “Do I have to sell?”, let’s ask:

👉 How do I sell with confidence, clarity, and most of all, with integrity?

A More Human Approach to Sales That Will Make You Proud

At its best, sales — like any meaningful relationship — is not about persuasion, but partnership.

Here are a few shifts I coach leaders and sales professionals to make:

  • Be more curious than convincing
  • Be interested, not interesting
  • Ask before offering
  • Clarify instead of closing
  • Focus on people, not pressure

If you want someone to ignore you, talk at them.

If you want someone to trust you, talk with them.

A Better Way to Show You Care — And Get the Results You Need

When you approach someone, make it about them—their needs, challenges, and goals. Refrain from talking about yourself. The time will come.

If you don’t take the time to understand what truly matters to them, you leave yourself no way out.

Without that insight, you’ll end up trying to convince the unconvinced — chasing leads that aren’t a good fit.

Final Thought

Selling with integrity means showing up with purpose, not pressure.

Not only because you want to be a good citizen, but because it’s the only way that works.

If you’re ready to rethink your approach to sales, leadership, and influence, I invite you to stay tuned.

Each month, I share ideas that are thoughtful, relevant, and grounded in experience, not hype.
