Six Ways to Position Your Business for Growth Next Year

|

Leaders, January is here! With that inescapable reality in mind, consider the following strategies you can use right now to ensure that your business is positioned for maximum growth.

Strategy #1: Get specific about what success looks like. When communicating with your teams, break down goals into comprehensible behavioral units for individuals and teams. For example, instead of just repeating financial goals, outline the specific behaviors required for both the team and individuals to achieve those goals. Set up a "cookbook" that shows each team member the specific daily and weekly behaviors necessary for the team to hit the target.

Strategy #2: Have each team leader validate their team's goals and timelines in a one-on-one meeting. Ensure clear communication, positivity, and support while leaving no room for misunderstanding. This step is crucial to avoid any disconnects about expectations.

Strategy #3: Focus not only on the "what" but also on the "how." Ask each team leader how the team plans to reach key benchmarks, brainstorming together. Discuss potential roadblocks and solutions early to demonstrate engaged leadership.

Strategy #4: Share the RACI stuff. Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, and Informed (RACI) is a task management system that clarifies responsibilities on important projects. Incorporate it into your communication with direct reports and company culture.

Strategy #5: Set up the calendar. Schedule additional meetings before key deliverable dates to provide ongoing support, share feedback, and address emerging challenges.

Strategy #6: Compensate and reward at the individual level. Connect the compensation and bonus system to annual organizational goals, allowing for meaningful conversations about the personal impact of achieving goals. Align personal and company objectives for greater success!
