  • Russell Mitchell

    Russ has 40 years of experience in Systems Engineering, System Safety, Software Safety, and business administration. In addition, He's worked with executives, boards, and business owners to help them optimise and streamline business processes through business process reengineering. 

    Russ also served the International System Safety Society as president, executive vice president, director of membership, director of conferences, operating vice president of professional development, operating vice president of communications and technology, and served as chapter president in two different chapters.

    Russ is a Certified Safety Professional in System Safety Aspects, a Technical Fellow of the International System Safety Society. He has taught professional classes to the US Air Force at Kirkland and Tinker AFBs. He has also instructed for ASSP, training SMS using ISO 45001.

    He is regularly called to consult in the DoD, Commercial Aerospace and in other commercial sectors, including oil and gas.

    This career engagement has clarified the role of a trusted advisor and the importance of negotiated solutions. Essentially, safety must be sold through compelling and transformative engagement.

    He currently guides organisations implementing “safety as a brand discriminator” instead of "regulatory compliance" thresholds as the lowest acceptable effort. 

    For decades now, Russ has repeatedly delivered transformative experiences for his clients through improved sales, training, consulting, coaching, mentoring and executive board service, driving continual improvement and enabling transformation.

    His courses have been taught every year since 2016. Now, new features and new courses are being offered to help organizations maximize their impact, minimize critical paths, avoid errors, improve capture and stickiness, as well as delivering safe and productive ways to utilize new tools and methods. Whether the target is leveraging MBSE, AI or driving improved sales performance through 21st century training mechanisms, embedded CRM reinforcements, and artisanal coaching reinforcment. Managing the pipeline is managing engagement and it is optimizing delivery.

With a diverse background in quality assurance, software testing, and sales management, Steve brings a unique perspective to solving business challenges and delivering client-centric solutions.

    He began his career at the Credit Bureau as a Quality Control Analyst, where he developed a strong foundation in precision, compliance, and data integrity. This analytical discipline laid the groundwork for his transition into software quality engineering, where he spent several years ensuring product excellence in fast-paced tech environments.

    Steve’s passion for building relationships and delivering value led him into sales management, where he has successfully led teams, coached high performers, and exceeded sales targets. His ability to translate complex technical concepts into meaningful business value makes him a trusted advisor to clients and a results-driven leader within any sales organization.

    Outside of work, Steve enjoys the outdoors and is an avid fisherman. He takes pride in being a dedicated father to his daughter, Kayla, and brings the same enthusiasm and integrity to his personal life that he does to his professional pursuits.
