Since the pandemic, businesses and organizations have looked for and experimented with different ways to connect with their clients. One tool that has really taken off and proven effective is video.
Statistically, email sends have gone up, but responses have gone down. So, what better way to stand out and consistently connect with others than using video?
While sending text emails can be a good form of communication, there are aspects that text emails lack. Think of the three elements of communication:
- Body language
- Tonality
- Words
It's also important to think about people's learning preferences and how they take in information. Remember the three learning preferences:
- Auditory
- Visual
- Kinesthetic
Video captures more of these points than text and allows you to adjust to people's communication and personality styles. Text emails focus on words. However, tone in text may not come across the way you intended. Not only is video more effective, but it hits all three elements of communication and covers two of the learning preferences.
When creating a video, keep in mind that first impressions matter. Your goal is to capture the viewer's attention and keep it. Here are some tips when creating a video to send through email:
- Have an attention grabber, such as a whiteboard with the recipient's name.
- Make sure your message is prepared and to the point.
- Avoid videos that are too lengthy.
- Show adequate body language and tone.
- Get creative!
There are many different ways to implement video, no matter what your business or organization is. In the past, we've seen people use video to provide "how to" demonstrations, unboxing reveals, announcing a giveaway, prospecting, and much more. These are all effective ways to communicate and connect with your clients or prospects.
